Adrian Burke
I have spent the majority of my career with the Otto Bock Group of Companies in the Orthopaedic and Polyurethane Plastics Industry Divisions. Otto Bock is recognised as the global leader in the field of Prostheses. In the mid 1990’s, the company diversified into the
Business Unit of Seating (Wheelchair) and Postural Management. As Managing Director of the company, I was initially responsible for the day to day operations of the administration, accounting, sales and marketing team of the Sydney based Australian headquarters
and this appointment was for fifteen years, after which I was appointed CFO to oversee the financial reporting responsibilities to the German Parent Company of 7 Branches throughout the South East Asia region, including Australia, New Zealand. This
appointment was for a period of 6 years. During the period of my tenure in Sydney, I was also responsible for overseeing the company’s involvement as a Tier One sponsor and
supplier to the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games, alongside Telstra and IBM.
After 21 years, I was then appointed for 6 years to oversee and maintain the development of new business for the Plastics/Polyurethane market of the Otto Bock business in both
Australia and New Zealand. For the last 10 years, I have focused on supporting disabled
parents confined to wheelchairs through helping them improve their quality of life, and so leading to the development of the Care Station Capsule in conjunction with PWA Mobility Pty Ltd. Overall, my experience has led to a strong dedication within the disabled industry and a strong commitment to quality and innovation in offering creative solutions to improve the comfort for parents using wheelchairs to care and bond with their children.
